In advising and guiding prospective, incoming, and current students and scholars, as well as recent graduates, we provide primary support and advocacy for RISD’s international community.

Maintaining immigration status

Whether you are coming to the US for the first time or returning to RISD after traveling, be sure to complete the required forms and procedures to receive and maintain your visa status.

Employment

There are restrictions to employment opportunities for students and scholars who are at RISD on an F-1 or J-1 visa. Learn more about the options available to students who are studying at RISD, or how to work at RISD as an international faculty member.

Life and travel

While you’re in the US, you may need to pay taxes, set up a bank account, or plan travel while completing your studies or work. Find information about traveling and adjusting to American systems during your time here.
