Curricular Practical Training

To be eligible for CPT, you need to:

• maintain F-1 status for a minimum of one full academic year (fall and spring terms)
• be currently enrolled with a declared major
• have an internship offer directly related to your major
• receive approval from your academic department and the registrar to receive academic credit toward your degree (as part of Artworks approval process)

To apply for CPT you need to:

• Register your internship in Artworks.
• Enroll in Curricular Practical Training (CPT) 101 and complete the required CPT modules in Canvas.
• Login to the Terra Dotta student portal and complete the "CPT I-20 Request."  As part of the process you will complete a required quiz based on the Canvas modules.

Once you meet all requirements, an international student advisor will approve your Artworks application and process your CPT request. We will also keep a record of your documents.

• Passing final quiz score from CPT Canvas modules (Quiz located in Terra Dotta student portal)
• Copies of your current Form I-20, passport ID page, and current F-1 visa
• Most recent I-94 record obtained from US Customs and Border Protection
• Job offer/internship letter from employer, furnished on company letterhead which includes:
  • employment start and end date (please note: The dates must fall within a single term’s dates and cannot span two terms.)
  • job responsibilities related to your major
  • hours worked per week, and
  • employer contact information
